This 12-night Scenic voyage is for travelers who want the South Pacific beyond the usual resort stops. It departs Papeete, Tahiti, on April 13, 2028, sails through French Polynesia to the Cook Islands, Niue and Tonga, crosses the International Date Line, then explores several Fijian islands before arriving in Lautoka, near Nadi, on April 25. April marks the end of the South Pacific wet season.
Moorea’s Cook’s Bay is framed by jagged volcanic peaks, while Bora Bora is famous for its turquoise lagoon and Mount Otemanu. In the Cook Islands, Aitutaki’s lagoon is one of the most beautiful in the Pacific, and tiny Palmerston Island is home to a small community descended from one 19th-century settler. Few travelers ever reach it, and a visit offers a rare look at life on one of the most isolated inhabited islands in the Pacific.
Niue, one of the world’s largest raised coral islands, is known for sea caves, chasms and clear water. In Tonga, Neiafu is the main town of the Vava’u group, with a sheltered harbor among forested islands. In Fiji, Lakeba is part of the remote Lau group, and Taveuni, the Garden Island, is known for rainforest, waterfalls and the 180th meridian. With only two sea days, this is a port-rich voyage.
Scenic’s Discovery Yachts are small ultra-luxury ships with butler service for every suite and largely all-inclusive fares. The yacht carries helicopters and a submarine, and flights or dives over the reefs may be offered at an added charge when the weather cooperates. Its small size also makes remote calls like Palmerston and Lakeba possible.
We can help with flights to Tahiti, a pre-voyage stay in French Polynesia and time in Fiji afterward. Tell us your plans and we’ll check fares and suite availability on this departure.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the weather like in Tahiti and Fiji in April?
April is warm and humid, typically in the 80s Fahrenheit, at the tail end of the South Pacific wet season. Showers are possible, and the drier season begins in May.
What does crossing the International Date Line mean on a cruise?
When the yacht crosses the date line between Niue and Tonga, you lose a calendar day. The itinerary accounts for it, so the voyage still totals 12 nights.
Where do I fly home from after the Tahiti to Fiji cruise?
The voyage ends at Lautoka, close to Nadi International Airport, Fiji’s main gateway. We’ll help with flights and any extra nights in Fiji.
