Top Expedition & Safari Destinations
Polar expeditions: the Antarctic Peninsula for penguins and icebergs, Svalbard (Norway) for polar bears, the immense glaciers of East Greenland, the historic Northwest Passage and the North Pole, usually explored on small expedition ships.
Beyond the poles: the Galápagos Islands, Patagonia and the Falkland Islands, and the wild coastlines of Alaska.
Safaris: Kenya and Tanzania for big game and the great migration, and Southern Africa for private game reserves.
Expedition Cruise or Safari?
Choose an expedition cruise if you want to reach places few people ever see, with a small ship as your base. Days are built around guided landings by Zodiac, wildlife viewing, kayaking and lectures from naturalists, with comfortable cabins to return to each night.
Choose a safari if you want to be on land among Africa’s great wildlife, with game drives at sunrise and sunset, expert guides and trackers, and nights at luxury lodges or tented camps.
Not sure which fits you? Many of our travelers do both over time, and we can help you decide where to start.
Who We Work With
We plan expeditions with leading expedition lines, including National Geographic-Lindblad Expeditions, HX Hurtigruten Expeditions, Aurora Expeditions, Quark Expeditions and Hurtigruten, plus Project Expedition for tours and excursions. For safaris, we pair the right lodges, camps and guides with your pace and interests.
Expedition ships and top safari lodges have limited space, so the right advice on cabins, departure dates and seasons makes a real difference.

Expedition & Safari FAQs
What is an expedition cruise?
An expedition cruise is a voyage on a small ship designed for remote destinations like Antarctica, the Arctic and the Galápagos. Instead of big-ship entertainment, days are built around guided landings, wildlife viewing and expert naturalists.
When is the best time to go to Antarctica?
Antarctic expeditions run during the Southern Hemisphere summer, from about November to March. Early season brings pristine snow and ice, mid-season brings penguin chicks, and late season is prime for whale watching.
When is the best time for an African safari?
It depends on where you go. In Kenya and Tanzania, the dry season from about June to October is classic safari time and includes the great migration. Southern Africa offers excellent game viewing in its dry winter months. We’ll match your dates to the best destination.
How far ahead should I book?
Expedition cruises often book 12 to 18 months out, and popular safari lodges can fill 9 to 12 months ahead, especially in peak season. Earlier is always better for the best cabins and camps.
Do I need to be very fit for an expedition or safari?
Not usually. Most expeditions and safaris offer a range of activities, from easy wildlife viewing to more active hikes and kayaking. Tell us how active you like to be, and we’ll match you with the right trip.
Does it cost more to book through Fulfilling Dreams Travel?
No. In most cases, booking with us costs nothing extra, and we can often secure benefits you typically won’t get by booking direct. You also get a team with firsthand expedition and safari experience handling every detail.
