This 11-night Scenic voyage is for travelers who want a Panama Canal transit and small Caribbean islands the big ships can’t reach. This departure sails the route in reverse, starting in Panama City on April 3, 2027, transiting the canal, then making its way east along the coasts of Panama and Colombia to Curaçao and the southern Windward Islands before ending in Bridgetown, Barbados, on April 14. April falls within the Caribbean’s dry season.
The Panama Canal transit is a highlight in its own right, as the yacht is raised and lowered through the locks between the oceans. The San Blas Islands, home to the Guna people, are a scattering of palm-covered cays and clear shallows. Cartagena’s walled old city, a UNESCO site, is full of colorful colonial streets, plazas and balconies covered in bougainvillea.
Cabo de la Vela, on Colombia’s arid La Guajira Peninsula, is a remote place of desert meeting sea, known for Wayuu culture. Willemstad’s brightly painted waterfront on Curaçao is another UNESCO site. Then the voyage reaches the Grenadines: the protected Tobago Cays, known for sea turtles and snorkeling, the small island of Mayreau, and Port Elizabeth on Bequia, with its boatbuilding heritage. Soufrière, St. Lucia, sits beneath the famous Pitons.
Scenic’s Discovery Yachts are ultra-luxury ships with butler service for every suite, and fares are largely all-inclusive. A helicopter flight over the islands or a submarine dive may be offered as an optional, extra-cost experience when the weather allows. The yacht’s small size is what makes calls like the Tobago Cays and Mayreau possible.
Panama City and Barbados are both good places to add a night or two. Share your plans and we’ll check fares, suite availability and any Scenic promotions for this sailing.
