This 16-night sailing is a strong fit for travelers who want a broad first look at East and Southeast Asia without packing and unpacking. Seven Seas Explorer leaves Bangkok’s port of Laem Chabang on March 2, 2027, works up the coasts of Cambodia and Vietnam, spends overnights in Ho Chi Minh City, Hong Kong and Osaka, and arrives in Tokyo on March 18. The route moves from tropical heat into a cool early spring in Japan.
Sihanoukville is Cambodia’s main seaport, with beaches and nearby islands. Ho Chi Minh City gets two days, which helps because the city is lively and full of contrasts: French colonial landmarks, busy markets and, outside town, the Cu Chi tunnels from the Vietnam War. Cam Ranh is the gateway to the beach city of Nha Trang. Hong Kong, also overnight, rewards an evening on deck or ashore looking across Victoria Harbour, and a ride up to Victoria Peak if the weather is clear.
From Keelung, Taipei is within reach for the National Palace Museum and the views from Taipei 101. Naha introduces Okinawa’s distinct Ryukyu culture and cuisine. In Osaka the overnight stay gives you options: the city’s famous street food in Dotonbori, or a day trip to the temples of Kyoto or the deer park and great Buddha of Nara. Tokyo is a natural place to add a few nights after the cruise.
Seven Seas Explorer is an all-suite ship from Regent Seven Seas Cruises, a line known for a refined, inclusive style. Most fares include shore excursions, fine wines and spirits, specialty dining, prepaid gratuities and Wi-Fi, and many include round-trip air, which is especially useful on an open-jaw route like this. Five sea days are spaced through the voyage for a slower pace. Ask us what your specific fare covers.
We are happy to map out hotel nights in Bangkok or Tokyo and compare suite categories for you. Share your dates and we will check live fares and availability.
Frequently Asked Questions
Will I see cherry blossoms in Japan in mid-March?
Possibly, but it is not guaranteed. Cherry blossoms in Osaka and Tokyo usually peak in late March or early April, so on a mid-March arrival you may catch early blooms, especially in a warm year.
Do I need visas for Vietnam and Cambodia on a cruise?
Many travelers need a visa or e-visa for Vietnam and Cambodia, and rules for China, Taiwan and Japan vary by nationality as well. Requirements depend on your citizenship, so we will confirm exactly what you need before you sail.
How far is Laem Chabang from Bangkok?
Laem Chabang is on the Gulf of Thailand, roughly two hours or more from central Bangkok by road depending on traffic. We usually suggest arriving a day or two early and spending time in Bangkok before boarding.
