This northbound Alaska cruise is a good match for first-time visitors who want the Inside Passage highlights in one week and the option to continue into Alaska’s interior. Crystal Serenity leaves Vancouver on June 7, 2027, threads through Seymour Narrows, calls at four Southeast Alaska ports, cruises Hubbard Glacier and arrives in Seward on June 14. In June, daylight seems to last almost all evening.
Seymour Narrows is a tight, fast-flowing channel between Vancouver Island and the mainland of British Columbia, and passing through it is a scenic start. Ketchikan is known for its Native totem poles, its historic Creek Street on stilts and float-plane trips over the Misty Fjords. Juneau, the state capital, is a popular place for whale watching and for seeing Mendenhall Glacier up close.
Skagway preserves its Klondike gold rush past in false-front buildings, and the historic railroad up to White Pass is a favorite. Sitka blends Tlingit and Russian heritage, with onion-domed St. Michael’s Cathedral and forest trails lined with totem poles. Hubbard Glacier, with its towering face, is often the most memorable scenic day. Seward, on the Kenai Peninsula, is the gateway to Kenai Fjords National Park and is connected to Anchorage by road and rail.
Crystal Serenity is a refurbished classic ship from Crystal, known for warm, attentive service and a sophisticated atmosphere. Beverages, gratuities and most specialty dining are generally part of the fare, which keeps the week simple. Instead of full sea days, this itinerary uses two scenic-cruising days for relaxing views from the deck. We will go through your fare’s details with you.
Many of our clients add Denali or the Kenai Peninsula after the cruise. Tell us your plans, and we will check fares, cabin availability and current offers.
Frequently Asked Questions
How far is Seward from Anchorage?
Seward is roughly 125 miles from Anchorage, a scenic drive of about two and a half to three hours, and the Alaska Railroad also runs between them in summer. Most travelers fly home from Anchorage.
Is June a good month for an Alaska cruise?
Yes. June offers very long daylight hours and often less rain than late summer, though weather is always changeable. Pack warm layers and a waterproof jacket for glacier viewing.
Do I need a passport for an Alaska cruise from Vancouver?
Since this cruise starts in Canada, we strongly recommend a valid passport, and it is required if you fly into Vancouver. Document requirements depend on your citizenship, so we will confirm them for you.
