This is one of the more ambitious Arctic voyages on the calendar: 16 nights aboard World Navigator from Nuuk, Greenland’s capital, across Baffin Bay and through Hudson Strait to Churchill, Manitoba. It departs July 30, 2027 and ends August 15. It suits experienced travelers and curious first-timers alike who want remote landscapes, Inuit communities and a real chance at Arctic wildlife, and who are comfortable with an itinerary shaped by ice and weather.

The voyage opens along Greenland’s west coast with Evighed Fjord and a crossing of the Arctic Circle. Disko Bay is known for its huge icebergs, and Eqi Glacier is one of the region’s most active calving glaciers. After a stop at Kangerluk on Disko Island, the ship crosses Baffin Bay to Qikiqtarjuaq in Nunavut, a small community surrounded by icebergs and towering coastal scenery.

Farther south along Baffin Island, landing sites such as Monumental Island and the Lower Savage Islands are known for wildlife, including the possibility of polar bears and walrus. Kimmirut is a small Inuit community with a strong tradition of stone carving. In Hudson Bay, Digges, Coats, Marble and Walrus Islands offer seabird cliffs, historic sites and more wildlife chances. The voyage ends with an overnight in Churchill, where beluga whales gather in the river estuary in summer. Like all expedition sailings, the route is Captain’s Choice, with stops adjusted for ice, wind and wildlife.

World Navigator is a small luxury expedition ship, and Atlas’s polar sailings include expedition gear and Zodiac landings led by the expedition team. Fares generally include beverages, gratuities and Wi-Fi as well. Because this route is so remote, we’ll review flights to Nuuk and home from Churchill carefully with you.

Voyages like this tend to book early and have a lot of moving parts. Reach out with your dates and cabin preferences, and we’ll check current fares, availability and logistics for both ends of the trip.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will I see polar bears on a Greenland to Churchill cruise?
Polar bears are possible in the eastern Canadian Arctic in summer, but sightings are never guaranteed. Walrus, seabirds and, in Churchill, beluga whales are also likely highlights depending on conditions.

How do I get home from Churchill, Manitoba?
Churchill has no road connection to the rest of Canada, so travelers leave by air or on the long rail line to Winnipeg. We’ll confirm what arrangements Atlas includes for this sailing and help with onward flights.

Do I need a passport for a cruise from Greenland to Canada?
Yes. Greenland is part of the Kingdom of Denmark and has its own entry rules, and Canada has separate requirements, both depending on your citizenship. We’ll confirm everything you need before departure.
