This 8-night World Traveller voyage connects the Greek islands, the Turkish coast and southern Italy, sailing from Piraeus, the port of Athens, on September 23, 2027 and arriving in Naples on October 1. It suits travelers who love ancient history but also want swim-friendly islands and walkable harbor towns. Late September is a sweet spot in the Mediterranean, with warm seas, softer heat and fewer crowds than midsummer.

Milos is known for its volcanic coastline, including the white, moonlike rock of Sarakiniko, and as the island where the Venus de Milo was found. Kusadasi is the gateway to Ephesus, one of the best-preserved ancient cities in the Mediterranean. Patmos, where tradition holds that St. John wrote the Book of Revelation, is crowned by the Monastery of St. John. Hydra has no cars, just donkeys, water taxis and a stone harbor lined with cafes.

A scenic day in the Ionian Sea gives you time to rest before Italy. Lipari is the largest of the Aeolian Islands, a volcanic chain off Sicily’s north coast. Capri brings the Faraglioni rock stacks and views across the Bay of Naples. The voyage ends in Naples, with Pompeii within easy reach for a final day of history, and the Amalfi Coast close by if you’d like to extend.

World Traveller is a small luxury ship, and its size is a real advantage in places like Hydra and Patmos. Atlas fares generally include beverages, gratuities and Wi-Fi, so your time aboard stays easy. Inclusions vary by fare type and promotion, so ask us for the specifics.

Many of our clients like to spend a couple of nights in Athens first. Share your dates and cabin preferences and we’ll check current fares, availability and any onboard credit for this sailing.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is late September a good time for a Greek islands cruise?
Yes, many travelers prefer it. Sea temperatures are still warm from summer, daytime heat is usually more comfortable than July or August, and ports tend to be less crowded.

Do I need a passport or visa for a cruise that stops in Turkey?
You’ll need a valid passport. Turkey has its own entry rules separate from Greece and Italy, and requirements depend on your citizenship, so we’ll confirm them when you book.

How far is Pompeii from the port of Naples?
Pompeii is roughly 15 miles from Naples, usually a 30- to 45-minute drive depending on traffic. Many travelers visit on disembarkation day or add a night in Naples or Sorrento.
