This 13-night Scenic journey is for travelers who want true Arctic wilderness with ultra-luxury comfort. It begins and ends in Oslo, departing June 28, 2027, with flights between Oslo and Longyearbyen in Svalbard included in the itinerary. From Longyearbyen, the Discovery Yacht spends its time exploring the Svalbard archipelago before you fly back to Oslo, finishing on July 11. Late June and early July bring 24-hour daylight under the midnight sun.

Oslo is an easy place to start, with its waterfront opera house, museums and a relaxed harbor. Longyearbyen, one of the world’s northernmost towns, sits in a broad valley surrounded by mountains and old mining remains. It has a small museum, a few restaurants and a frontier feel, and it is the administrative center of the archipelago. Many visitors are surprised by how much history the town holds, from early whaling and coal mining to polar exploration.

The heart of the trip is the Svalbard archipelago itself, an Arctic landscape of glaciers, fjords and tundra roughly halfway between mainland Norway and the North Pole. Wildlife commonly seen here includes walrus, Svalbard reindeer, Arctic foxes, seabirds and, with luck, polar bears on the sea ice or shoreline. Expedition voyages here are shaped by ice and weather, so the exact route is planned day by day, and that flexibility is part of the experience.

Scenic’s Discovery Yachts are small, ice-class ultra-luxury ships with butler service for every suite and largely all-inclusive fares. In the Arctic, the yacht’s helicopters and submersible can add a remarkable perspective on the ice when conditions allow, though these are optional extras. Ask us about the expedition program and what is included in your fare.

Arctic sailings have limited space and fill early. Get in touch and we’ll check suite availability, fares and the flight arrangements for this voyage.
