This 16-night Explora II crossing is made for travelers who like the idea of sailing to Europe rather than flying, and who enjoy relaxed days at sea. It leaves Miami on March 19, 2028, calls in Puerto Rico and Antigua, crosses the Atlantic to Madeira, then finishes in southern Spain and Barcelona on April 4. It is a classic spring repositioning route with plenty of time to unwind.

San Juan’s Old San Juan district, with its forts and pastel streets, makes for an easy first port. St. John’s is the gateway to Antigua’s many beaches and to Nelson’s Dockyard, a restored Georgian naval yard and UNESCO site. Then come six days at sea, a stretch many of our clients look forward to most, with time for the spa, long lunches and books you have been meaning to read.

Funchal, on the Portuguese island of Madeira, is known for its gardens, wine and dramatic cliffs. Cádiz, one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in Western Europe, also gives access to Seville and Jerez. Málaga offers the Alcazaba, the Picasso Museum and good tapas, and Barcelona, with Gaudí’s Sagrada Família and the Gothic Quarter, is an easy place to add a few days at the end.

Explora II is a ship of Explora Journeys, the MSC Group’s luxury brand, with all ocean-front suites and private terraces. Its calm atmosphere, wellness facilities and varied dining are well suited to a voyage with this many sea days. Fares generally include beverages, Wi-Fi, gratuities and most dining; ask us what yours includes.

A one-way crossing needs careful flight planning, and we’ll take care of that along with any Barcelona hotel stay. Reach out and we’ll check suite options, fares and any offers for this departure.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many sea days are on the Miami to Barcelona transatlantic cruise?
There are 11 days at sea in total, including a six-day stretch crossing the Atlantic between Antigua and Madeira. The rest of the voyage includes six port calls before Barcelona.

Is the Atlantic rough in March on a transatlantic cruise?
Conditions vary, and a spring crossing can include some swells, though the southern route via the Caribbean and Madeira tends to be milder than northern routes. If you are prone to seasickness, a midship suite on a lower deck can help.

Can I see Seville from Cádiz on this cruise?
Yes, Seville is roughly a 90-minute drive or train ride from Cádiz, which makes a full-day visit practical. Ask us about planning that day.
