This seven-night round trip from Southampton is a smart way to sample three countries in one summer week, and it suits families who want variety without changing hotels. MSC Meraviglia sails on July 10, 2027, calls at Brest in Brittany, continues to Lisbon via Cascais and Vigo in northwest Spain, then stops at Cherbourg in Normandy before returning on July 17. July brings long days and mild temperatures along Europe’s Atlantic coast.
Brest is a historic naval port in Brittany, a region known for rugged coastline, lighthouses and crêpes. Lisbon is a highlight: ride a vintage tram through the Alfama, see the Belém Tower and Jerónimos Monastery, and try the city’s famous custard tarts. Cascais, the seaside town where the ship calls, has its own beaches and a relaxed promenade.
From Vigo, many guests head to Santiago de Compostela, whose cathedral marks the end of the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage. Others stay local for seafood and the coastline. Cherbourg is the gateway to Normandy, with Mont-Saint-Michel and the D-Day beaches both reachable on full-day excursions, though both involve a long drive. Two sea days on the Bay of Biscay give everyone time to rest.
MSC Meraviglia is one of the line’s large, modern ships, with a long indoor promenade, family entertainment and kids’ clubs. The atmosphere is international, which suits a European itinerary. Drinks and Wi-Fi are typically extra unless you add a package, and MSC Yacht Club offers a quieter suite experience with dedicated spaces.
Southampton is about two hours from London, so many travelers add a few days in the city first. Let us know your plans and we will check fares, cabins and current MSC offers for this sailing.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Bay of Biscay rough in July?
The Bay of Biscay has a reputation for swells, but summer is generally its calmest season. Conditions vary, so if you are prone to seasickness, we recommend a midship cabin on a lower deck.
How far is Southampton from London?
Southampton is roughly two hours from central London by train or car. Many of our clients spend a few days in London before boarding.
Can I visit Mont-Saint-Michel from Cherbourg?
Yes, but it is a long drive each way, so it takes most of the day. The Normandy D-Day beaches are a closer alternative, and we can help you choose.
