This seven-night round trip from Seattle is a family-friendly introduction to Alaska’s Inside Passage in early spring. MSC Poesia sails on May 10, 2027, heads north to Ketchikan, Icy Strait Point near Hoonah and Tracy Arm, calls at Juneau, then stops in Victoria on the way back to Seattle on May 17. May is early in the Alaska season, with long daylight hours, fewer crowds and snow still on the mountaintops.

Ketchikan is a good first port, with totem poles, the historic boardwalks of Creek Street and salmon streams running through town. Icy Strait Point, near the Tlingit village of Hoonah, is known for wildlife, with chances to see whales and bears on organized tours, and a quieter, more local feel than the larger ports.

Tracy Arm is a dramatic scenic cruising day: a narrow fjord lined with granite cliffs, waterfalls and floating ice leading toward the Sawyer Glaciers, conditions permitting. Juneau, the state capital, is reachable only by air or sea, and Mendenhall Glacier is a short drive from downtown. Victoria, British Columbia, brings flower gardens, the Inner Harbour and an English-style afternoon tea. Two sea days balance out the port days.

MSC Poesia is a mid-sized ship with a classic feel, kids’ clubs, family-friendly entertainment and plenty of indoor spaces for cooler days. MSC’s international flavor shows up in its dining and atmosphere. Drink and Wi-Fi packages are usually extra, and we can help you decide whether one is worth it. Alaska excursions can be the biggest cost, so we help families choose wisely.

Spring Alaska fares can be good value compared with summer. Let us know how many are traveling and we will look at cabins, fares and any current MSC offers.

Frequently Asked Questions
